SCDC has a range of significant projects currently active for the benefit of the people of Scalloway and surrounding area<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf1f Our Aspirations for Scalloway<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Scalloway Community Development Company is working towards a vibrant, sustainable future for our village. Much of our work stems from the ReCreate Scalloway community consultation and the subsequent Destination Scalloway consultation and masterplan. Here\u2019s what we\u2019re aiming for over the next few years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf0a Waterfront & Environment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • 2025\u20132029:<\/strong>\u00a0 Commission detailed designs for the Scalloway waterfront, secure funding and manage construction of infrastructure 2025-2029 to provide improved access, sea defences and environmental improvements. This includes extending the Burn Beach for further parking and improve the waterfront for visitors and locals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • 2025\u20132026:<\/strong>\u00a0Develop new tourism, interpretation, and access projects to showcase Scalloway\u2019s unique history and culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      \ud83d\udcbc Jobs & Economic Growth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      • 2029\u20132030:<\/strong>\u00a0Plan and secure investment to create spaces and buildings for new businesses \u2014 supporting job creation and keeping opportunities local.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        \u26fa Caravan Park & Active Travel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • 2026\u20132029:<\/strong>\u00a0Continue developing facilities at the caravan park to welcome more visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • 2027 onwards:<\/strong>\u00a0Build a safe footpath and cycle link between the caravan park and the village, plus other pedestrian and active travel routes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          \u26a1 Energy & Sustainability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          • 2025\u20132026:<\/strong>\u00a0Commission a feasibility study into local energy projects, especially a District Heating Scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • 2025\u20132028:<\/strong>\u00a0Explore community ownership of part of the Mossy Hill wind farm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            • 2025:<\/strong>\u00a0Investigate community transport needs and create a strategy for improving local connections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              • 2025\u20132028:<\/strong>\u00a0Explore new income streams and acquire community assets to strengthen SCDC\u2019s financial base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                • 2025 onwards:<\/strong>\u00a0Recruit more volunteers and directors, and keep listening through regular community consultations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • 2025:<\/strong>\u00a0Secure a more visible, inclusive office space as a base for our Development Manager and community activities \u2014 with professional designs commissioned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
